Abrasive Wheels Course, August 2006

Kilkenny Fire Rescue Service in conjunction with Coillte Teo ran a successful two-day Abrasive Wheels Course on 31st July and 1st August 2006.

Firefighters from all of the Fire Stations in Kilkenny Fire Rescue Authority successfully passed the two-day Abrasive Wheels Course. The course involved both classroom lectures and practical use of abrasive wheels.

The objectives of the course were as follows:

  • Use Abrasive Wheels correctly;
  • Adhere to basic safety rules;
  • Understand the principles of wheel selection and inspection;
  • Mount abrasive wheels correctly;
  • Understand the safe handling, maintenance and storage of related powers units.
