Kilkenny Fire Rescue Service in conjunction with Coillte Teo ran a successful two-day Abrasive Wheels Course on 31st July and 1st August 2006.
Firefighters from all of the Fire Stations in Kilkenny Fire Rescue Authority successfully passed the two-day Abrasive Wheels Course. The course involved both classroom lectures and practical use of abrasive wheels.
The objectives of the course were as follows:
- Use Abrasive Wheels correctly;
- Adhere to basic safety rules;
- Understand the principles of wheel selection and inspection;
- Mount abrasive wheels correctly;
- Understand the safe handling, maintenance and storage of related powers units.
